Hello everyone!

Just got an AZ prestige and am curious, for those of you who have this guitar, what neck relief, action at 12th fret and at last fret (22th/24th) do you run them at?
Do you aim for buzz free action or sacrifice some for more playability?

I'm asking you because my neck relief is between 0.008 - 0.010 and action at 12th fret is 2 mm. Nut slot is cut correctly. I love that action and it suits my playing style just fine, but I find the height at the last fret a bit on the higher side (22th fret - 2.5 mm) and I don't know if that is normal. I was expecting it to be around 2.25 mm.

Cheers!

You may want to take a good crowning file and putt a little fall off on the last few frets. Stew Mac makes a file for use with the strings on. That would be a good way to just dress the high fret and how much to take off. Your neck relief sounds just fine. The action sounds about right.

Shimming the neck will make the last fret even more problematic. I wouldn’t try that.

Thank you!
What I meant to say is that my action at 12 fret is 2.00 mm but the action at 22 fret is 2.50 mm. Isn't that a bit high (on the last fret)?

Yeah, that is kind of high. check and make sure that last fret is fully seated (not lifting). Check and see if you can push a single piece of paper under the fret before you start. If you can get the paper under it, tap it down and the screen see what happens.

After that see if you can get the action lowered to between 3 and 4 64ths on the high E side ad 4 to 5 64ths on the low E side. Tweak it to you preference from there. Also measure the action at the 17th fret when you set the action. Then take a look at the height at the 8th and 12th frets. If it still looks too high, then try to go with a little less relief.

I use a string as a straight edge and set the relief by Eyeballing it. My relief when measured is usuall 7 to 8 thousandths.

If a fretted note on the next to last fret is buzzing with an action of 2.5mm, I’d look at getting the frets leveled.

I fixed it by setting the relief at 0.012 (0.3mm) exactly and lowering the action. Now its 2 mm at 12 fret and 2.25 mm at 22 fret, much better.
