Hey, folks!
So I have this curious MIJ 1997 Fujigen Ibanez, and I struggle to find any info about it online. At least some history of the model or any info would be very nice!
From what I can tell, it was made for the japanese domestic market, and this model is not featured in any late 90's catalogues I looked through.
One of the most interesting characteristics is its finish - I made up my own name - BTR - Burnt Transparent Red (as in Burnt Transparent Blue in official Ibanez finishes catalogue). It may be like Burnt Stained Red, or something, I'm not sure. Otherwise there's no info on this finish that I could find. Other characteristics are:
Body - Ash (also interesting one) (turned out to be American Basswood)
Neck (Wizard type) - maple, rosewood, dots inlay
Hardware - Cosmo black (I replaced the original volume and tone knobs though), Gotoh tuning keys
Tremolo - Lo PRO Edge
Pickups - Neck - Ibanez QM1
Middle - QMS1
Bridge - QM2
Finish - Burnt Transparent Violin

Now some pics! (I can make any other pics of it that you might need)

Was planning to install a mirror pickguard panel, but right now reflecting on destroying its integrity in this case... But somehow I think it'll fit it well.

No idea about that model, but it would be a crying shame to put a pickguard on it (and I like pickguards). Gorgeous.

Thank you for the reply!
It is beautiful and quite unique, I think, too. Would be great to find anything about it.
I found an Ibanez JEM while searching pictures (which was Burnt Stained Blue), and it was made at approximately same time as mine RG, so there was this "burning" trend for a while in 96-97'. (can't insert img now, until I have at least 10 posts)...

Here you go my friend....... Welcome to Jemsite!!!

1997 Ibanez RG685BTV (Burnt Transparent Violin):

FWIW, I wouldn't change anything other than possibly the pickups. Most people like the QM's and keep them in.

I'm very grateful to you for finding it! Amazing. So it's a American Basswood after all. And a Wizard neck :) Very interesting!
It was in a 1997 japanese catalogue? I only looked through US/EU, didn't stumble upon japanese yet.
I guess I won't install a pickguard, given the feedback. :) As for pickups, though - I might look into some DiMarzios (like Evo's, or Gravity Storm's) (but QMs are the best pickups among all I had on any of my guitars so far)

Thank you again for providing this info! But if you could source me to those catalogues I'd be drooling over RG's and JEM's forever. :)

I guess, this is it? ibanez.co.jp/anniversary_j/

So they were running even until 2000. Very interesting.

I have the 685 in trans purple, but mine's a 98. Do NOT put a pickguard on it. It just wouldn't look right imo. Also, of the the best things about this guitar is that it's direct mount. It resonates like you cannot believe. Unplugged the thing can get pretty loud.

It's also a Japanese market model, never released outside Japan. The QM pups are hated by a lot of people, but if you skew your EQ settings to be a little mid-focused (mids higher than treble or bass), some of that harshness goes away. They are functional pups, not great, but not the worst thing Ibanez has given us.

A beautiful, beautiful guitar you got there! And a very lively thread to read as well! I guess we're lucky ones to have such rarity? :)
Thank you for the EQ tip! I'll look into it, as I'm used to boost trebles most of the time. But quite honestly it's already sounding very bright, and yet persistent (I guess QMs have a pretty high output).
(btw it's the first Ibanez in my collection, but I also have 2 japanese Tokai Les Pauls and a 1993 Squier Silver series Stratocaster)

Well ,the QMs were designed to be ibanez's version of the Dimarzio Evos supposedly, which is why they sound kinda harsh at times. Boosting treble above the other settings on this thing is asking for trouble

I've seen a Burnt trans blue 685 for sale at ishibashi here, looks pretty cool, but I am getting my RC1720M today so no money for a LONG while :(

I like having unusual guitars. I also have an RGR580 (another Japanese market model, an RG with a mahogany body :D ), one of the more rare Japanese models out there. You almost never see em, which is why the minute I found one locally, I sold my RG550CA to get it

Mahogany body sounds awesome! (and that one has maple fretboard - some uniqueness going on). What finish that guitar has?
Early congratulations on your next purchase, hope it'll bring you a sense of renewall to your life! :) Will you post a thread about it soon after? I'd love to see pics and read tomorrow (as it's already late night where I am)

Also I kinda dig the pickups name (Quantum). Something in it. :) And the fact they're (probably?) modelled after Evo's good news to me as well.

I have a thread already up for my new guitar, which I will be picking up in 2.5 hours  :)

Also, here's the NGD thread for my 580:

I will post some sound clips of my RC1720M later today, because a lot of people had been wondering how the Super 58 pickup, in the neck, sounds in a solid body guitar (George Benson and Pat Metheny use the super 58s on their signature models, but they are semi-hollow bodies).

Very nice find.

May I ask you where did you find it? I often look at sweetguitars.ru and am blown away by the weird ibanez they are able to source

I live in RU actually, and bought it exactly at sweetguitars.ru :)
Here's the link to the archived lot page:

Got it a while ago, really. As you can see now, not that many Ibanez in stock...
Wasn't looking for anything particular at that time. Just showed up at shop to compare and choose an RG. This one happened to be in perfect condition, and sounded by far clearer, punchy-er, sparklier, more consistent and sustainy than any other contestant. And had quite a peculiar, rare esthetic to it. (something fiery and deep at the same time)

Here's an audio of it if you're interested :) https://yadi.sk/d/0y9wh-SofFNhu

Edit: If you're referring to mine RG685, that is
