Japan doesn't get half of the prestige rgs that the US gets. Also, there are models available/ not available in japan than elsewhere.Looks like Fowleri might have been right after all! First time for everything I suppose
Interesting that the J-Line is there with just a single model, there’s at least one more that’s on sale and I wonder if that line might expand to fill the price point the Genesis range sat at?
proof that what I said was right all alongSo Fowleri, where did you get the information that the Genesis line was going bye bye? I sure hope that is BS because I want to get a Genesis RG 550 in red, but want to wait until next year. I am sure that Rich will let us know if they were to discontinue something like that.
I am currently at 29 guitars, but 4 are going bye bye at Christmas time. So, I need to slow down for the rest of the year. Christmas shopping is all done. But there are still a few more guitars that I want. And my wife bought me two Epiphones for XMAS. I Just won’t be able to swing any more guitars for another couple of months. Hope the RG550’s,stay around. They are a lot of bang for the buck.
AANJ neck joint and rosewood/ebony fretboard are two good reasons why some people (myself included) would choose Prestige over Genesis. The Prestige line also offers far more options for finishes, pickups (some people like the RG550 stock pups, but I'd definitely be swapping them out), plus various other specs. Why buy a Prestige when you can get a Genesis?
you dont get the cool colors tho i dont like any of the colors and designs in the prestige line tbhAANJ neck joint and rosewood/ebony fretboard are two good reasons why some people (myself included) would choose Prestige over Genesis. I see where you're coming from, as all of the current Prestige finish options look very modern. I own four Prestige RGs, but all look more like a classic RG (RG655, RG652 & 2x RG2550Z).you dont get the cool colors tho i dont like any of the colors and designs in the prestige line tbh
Designs? The rg prestige and genesis line have literally the same design, but different options.you dont get the cool colors tho i dont like any of the colors and designs in the prestige line tbh
Mahogany RGs are something special.I see where you're coming from, as all of the current Prestige finish options look very modern. I own four Prestige RGs, but all look more like a classic RG (RG655, RG652 & 2x RG2550Z).
I guess it wouldn't make sense for the Prestige range to match the Genesis finish options - otherwise one of the two becomes obsolete. The RG655 Prestige was essentially replaced by the the RG550 Genesis in 2017.
It's probably not a coincidence that Ibanez has focused on mahogany bodies, ebony fretboards and offering a selection of "better" pickups for the Prestige line, ever since the Genesis line was released. The Prestige price jumped up, but so did the specs. Even though most existing Ibanez customers were happy with basswood, it's clear from other guitar forums that plenty of people had been opting for rival brands for mahogany bodies.
Even a Tone Zone?Mahogany RGs are something special.
My rg520qs is still my best playing guitar after 22 years and no work done to it, ever.
It is also one of those unicorn guitars. I have never had a pickup sound bad in it. Sure, some sound better than others, but they always sound better in the 520.
They're still showing on the Ibanez website, so I'm not sure where they have supposedly vanished from. So, what I said became true after all, yet all the people who called me delusional, that Ibanez would never reveal in an email their plans, etc
suddenly they vanished
