I acquired a 7-string DiMarzio humbucker that is marked 'S2' on the baseplate. Anyone know what this is? The previous owner thinks it's a Blaze bridge pickup taken from a Universe, and I didn't get a conclusive answer from DiMarzio.

Haha, I was watching that auction on the bay...

Well, I'd guess it's a neck pickup based on the number of leads. And based on the hex pole pieces I'd say it's not a TZ7, AN7, or PAF7. And due to the fact that the pole pieces are black I'd guess it came stock on an Ibanez, so I'm going to guess it's either a New 7 or Blaze.

Maybe someone with some actual knowledge can comment :)

It's not a New-7, the baseplates on those are just 6-string brass baseplates without the tabs bent down. The 'S2' doesn't match the markings on either New-7 in my 7620.

Actually, I was just looking at some J-Custom 7s that use New-7s with black mounting tabs. Maybe it's one of these "new New-7s"...?

I guess I'll just have to check it on a multimeter when I get it and then see what it matches.
