It says it is a Limited Edition offeredonly in 1998, even though it doesn't have the LTD suffix. With a pickup swap, I don't think it should feel/sound different than a Prestige, like most of the FujiGen limited editions of that era. And basswood! like my priceless RG550LTD

Nice one indeed.

There were a couple of these RG 50x models in the mid-late 90s (502, 503, 505, 507, 517) which were basically EU market versions of the 520, 550, 570 and so on, with some different colours and even figured tops, like in the op.

If you look at EU catalogues from the period, you'll see them.

The 550 and 570 were also available in the EU at the time, but they had a Lo Pro and some other things.

Indeed, this should be true today, at least for std. models. Good looking thin veneers aka wallpapers on many models. It must not necessarily always have been that way in 1998, hence I asked for this one.
