Sorry for my vast lack of knoledge on locking systems but I really need help. Im completely new to all this tremelo locking stuff but I really need someone to explain how to make the js 100 tremelo less stiff when deppressing the whammy bar. Im really annoyed because I have to use my whole arm to use the thing, Id also really appreciate it if someone explained it really simply PLEASE HELP.

Thanks alot

Sorry about no replies man, people around here are pretty arrogant when it comes to this stuff. Hate to break it to you Rich but you're Tech section isn't exactly the tremolo bible. Anyway I'd try removing a spring, but if you're talking about the arm, that usually goes away with time.

Hey man, no reason for the hostility. It's just that everyone here is at different levels when it comes to this stuff, and sometimes people are busy with other issues.

Make sure your trem is level, in the sense that the knife edges are perpendicular to the trem studs. If it's not level then that could make it harder to depress.

Just follow these instructions to get it all set up:

http://www.jemsite.com/tech/1setup.htm

These, along with Rich's instructions, were the sources from which I learned how to set up my guitar, and it's now set-up great!

Good luck.

I had actually saved his post in my task bar to help later, until I read his next one that says we're arrogant, and how bad my Tech section must be, in which case, why waste my time? ;)

Sorry, but i absolutely don't deal with trems on korean axes. The jemsite setup section applies, but those cheap trems have alot stiffer feel from my experience.

i'd probably try using 2 springs and seeing if things change (assuming 009-042 strings)... glen

To be fair, that was someone else who posted that, not the original poster.
The original poster showed no hostility ;)

Sometimes just working the springs good will loosen them up a bit. Metal likes to keep memory. Although you should still be able to depress the bar with just a couple fingers. If not, time to hit the weight room ;)

In my opinion it really is the tremolo bible, ive NEVER seen a better setup tutorial for floyd tremolos anywhere and this includes stew mac guides, Dan Erlewine himself, pretty much every guide you can think. If you can find ANYWHERE else on the internet that shows you how to sharpen dull knife edges, remove a floyd rose with the strings on, loose or tight feel, etc Ill gladly post that everytime from here on out
