So, an '89 should be the original shape and neck profile, right?
Actually, no. The *original* shape is seen on the 1987 guitars. That shape got slimmed down and the cutaway deepened for the 1988 (sweetest) shape. I think (Falbo must enter to correct me) that the sweet shape lived on at least a year into the JS series shape before the JS shape took over and the Radius and the JS were the same even though offered separately. Your '89 I believe would be one of the sweeties.

Cool ^, you can see how the lower horn, how it looks more deep on the 90 compared to the 87, that is neat.

Nice pics. :)

Has anyone ever seen the Roadstar which has the usual Ibanez headstock but a kind of Radius shaped body? 540 I believe.
Yep, I had one- a Roadstar Pro 540-R Radius. It said Roadstar Pro on the headstock but had the traditional Ibanez shape. The body and features were a radius all the way. It was the transition model from the Roadstar to the Radius. Mine had the 3 mini toggles also ('87 Model I think?). Anyway, it rocked. I have pics that I will post if I ever figure out how to post them here...

That's what we're calling the original 87 adius. All the ones I've seen had "Roadstar Pro" on the headstock.

One cool factor about the Radius guitars was the hand sanding/finishing that took place. There are steep variations even between the same model in the same year. Nuno's guitar is on top and an old one of mine on the bottom. Both are '87s. Notice on mine that the curves on the bottom edge and in the cutaway are deeper. The cutaway curve practically touched the neck pickup. Not so on Nuno's.
