I picked up an RG560, serial F9xxxxx. I believe it to be a 1989 Rg 560. Original Edge trem, 24 frets, rosewood fretboard, dot inlays, H/S/S. The thing throwing me off is the color. It's a transparent red with a faint flame pattern. The flame on the back looks better than the flame on the front. The flame doesn't go all the way to the edges, it's kinda like a half inch of red around the edges. Maybe a limited edition or custom? Does anyone have one of these or have some info for me? I checked the Ibanez catalogs and didn't see a 560 that came in this color.
Other than that, it's pretty nice with minor dings. Gonna change strings and setup her up in the next day or 2. I've been looking for an inexpensive guitar with a real trem on it and I think I found it today.

Still no luck with the camera yet. But, I decided to take it apart and clean it up a bit. Trem seems to not have a lot of wear on it. Put chapstick on the knife edges, new strings on it, tightened up a bolt here and there and stretched out the strings real good. Man, that thing actually stays in tune after beating on the whammy bar. I now see why the edge is so darn good. Anyway, the neck pocket says 560MR and the butt end of the neck says RG-550R. So it's odd that the MR color (majestic red) doesn't show up in their catalogs until 1991. But it doesn't show that it's available on the 560. I suppose it could be an 89 neck on a 91 body. I got a hold of a camera, but i can't post attachments.

Well, I'm stumped.

Enjoy it, it should play nicely, the frets have just been polished I see.

You could tell? Yeah, i polished them before i put new strings on it. Gotta love the shiney frets! The single coils appear to be stock, the bridge is a dp151, the paf pro. Doesn't have a lot of bite to it. The singles are a little weak too. I'm a tone zone guy, but from what I've read here, i may want to put an evolution or a breed in it. Maybe a chopper in the neck.

Ahh, the good ole days. The 560 was the first Ibanez I bought brand new of the rack. Great guitar for the money. Too bad I had to sell it, or i'd have it now. Anyone know if they are hard to come by?

My first Ibanez was an RG560 too. . .but I bought last January at a pawn shop. Still in great condition, considering it a pawnshop buy.

You can still get them on the electronic bay since nobody seem to like the HSS pickup config, compared to a HSH 550 or 570.

I sold mine. TOTALLY regret it, I want another.
