Installed a Fernandes Sustainer

I installed it this weekend a Fernandes Sustainer in an RG I've got loaded with a EVO in the bridge. Impresive!

It took me the full weekend routing, re-routing, re-routing again, some soldering and a couple of connections. It has been funny and I am happy with the results. However I won't do it in the Jem. Definitely not.

Yes, please post some images... I bet it sounds great!!!!!

I'm in the middle of a project of JEM styling a RG 570 with Fernandes Sustainer (Humbucker - Bridge), Dimarzio HS2 (Middle), & Steve's Special (Bridge) too. I will take pictures of the full project from beginning to end.
I used the kit and it comes with a single. However that pickup sounds pretty well. Better than what I thought.

I installed the sustainer under the pickguard which means all knobs are there in the pickguard. Nothing in the wood. It's ok for me but maybe it can be unconfortable for other players.

Look at the picture

Now it's time to do some decoration ..... ;)

Wow, you can get a dumby cover and make it look like humbucker. Did you rout out the back or only under the pickguard? Please show pictures.

That is close to the color of my new project... but Im determined to have them in white.
I emailed Fernandes Guitars about it in white: and this is what I got back. Opinions & my name wrong... Black goes with anything. heheheh well it doesnt match white pickups.

"Hello Mike,

Thank you for your interest in Fernandes Guitars/ Hiwatt Amplification. In response to your inquiry, we no longer manufacture white sustainer kits, they are only available in black. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help to you. But black does go good with any color.

Best regards,
Guy.

Hello,

I was wondering if you made the Fernandes Sustainer FSK101 kit with White Humbucker? Do you also sell the White covers?

Thank You,
Richard "

to me that hole either side of the sustainer needs something black filling the gaps, looks a bit scruffy otherwise but nice work man!!!
damn i love sustainers, i need another one, i sold my guitar that had one in it
Another thing you can do is put a single coil or stacked hum right next to the sustainer. Mounting it will be a bit interesting; probably a piece of aluminum with holes drilled in it would be the easiest, that you can mount the pickups to then mount the whole assembly in the pickguard. You could even use a piece of wood. Alternatively, and this is what I did, just drill extra holes in the pickguard so that you can mount two single coils in the hole for a humbucker.
rufes! would you care to post the wiring diagram, or atleast write what wire you connected to where?
I'm trying to wire up my DiMarzio Evo bridge, DiMarzio Chopper Middle and Fernandes Sustainer neck.

Yep. That's something I will definitely do during the "decoation" process

Thanks everybody for their comments! :)
