The same design, just different pattern. The FPs are nice. :)
27 different possible body / head stock combinations. So no, every FP isn't different, but some pattern combo's are a lot more rare than others. (and a lot prettier)
Hi

Cool about the certain combo patterns being rare and all.
I heard mention that the FP's are not ever really going to be worth much because of the maximum years of production, being the most and all.

Which patterns are the more rare ones? Does anybody have any pics?
I'd like to tell the difference between the common ones and the more rare ones. Personally they are all gawjus but the facts don't hurt either.

Curiousity got me and my cat.....LOL

are they still made? cos on the uk ibanez site, theyre not listed anymore!!!
No - they currently are not being made although they did bring them back in 2003 for the 15 year anniversary. That was nice because you could get them "NEW" They may still be available in Japan though. Squeeg here are some pics of mine - the one in the pink lined UV case is a first year 1988 in MINT cond. The other is a 1991, also mint. Both these patterns I think are pretty rare as I have not seen another like them. If someone has one of these pattern combo's please post;) Note - the 1988 has the pups mounted directly to the pick-guard, the 1991 has the pups mounted to the body. Not sure why Ibanez changed this, but it makes it a lot easier to pull off the pick-guard, change pups, etc.

I don't think they are quite as pretty as the one below. Hope you don't mind Glen:D Glen's is probably my favorite pattern of the FP's and obviously a lot of other people's fav's because this pattern is quite common. Isn't she lovely (wanna sell her Glen:D

As far as them being worth less, you are talking to someone who knows an awful lot about nothin;) I'm sure Rich could help you out there. Damn, I have way too much time on my hands today:lol:

THANKS:D

Damn....where was I back then  I love that pattern
I think there still a couple of them new in my local store. With edge pro of course ;)

JJEMMER777 I'm loving your FPs! Very nice pair.

As for variations just check out the section on FPs here on jemsite. Jemsite's was one of the reasons which convinced me to get an FP 8 years ago!

Sweet FP's guys..... I love them all.

Wow! Very nice one you got there!

Somehow the corrosion on the heel plate always appealed to me. I can't really explain why, it's kind of like a battle scar or a sign of maturity on the FP. What year is your FP, I noticed the old school edge trem on the body ;)

She's looking sweet man!

Vai's FPs are really interesting, he has some with rose wood fingerboard with pyramid inlays instead of the production vines.

Check mine out over here, just got her back from a refret, http://www.jemsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41217
like you said...Good Times my brothers!

Christopher.
Yea, I think JJEMMER777 is the more uncommon style I have seen, yet I have seen one with a lot of yellow on it too - which was cool. ;)

heres mine. 89'

Yes Squeeg - yours is the more common one Same as Chris' and Rich's is pretty close too. But you can see WHY it is the most sought after pattern. It's the prettiest.......

Hey.....I want one:D

Good times my brothers;)
For all how have the Faded "PINK" Pickups, I think you should get new pickup caps, I helps the look of the guitar much better.. also I swapped out my knobs for green to tie in the neck more.. I think it works, but then what do I know :)

A whole lot about nothin:lol:

Just kiddin - I have come to know that you are a wealth of knowledge;)
Green pickups look great on an FP as well, it's a nice touch.

Sweet FP's guys

Yah mine is an 88. She is in mint condition.
Even when I open up the case that sweet smell illuminates the room

It would be cool to change the faded pink caps on the pups.
Who sells and has good replacements?
Is it very hard to swap out?

Eventually I think another FP will be in order.....
Good Times
