I recently picked up a lefty RG2570 and soon I'll be replacing the pickups. I've decided to save a little and install them myself this time so I've been looking at the wiring and i'm not sure if im wired up right..probs just me being a muppet though. Here's a photo...

From the RG2570 wiring page (http://www.ibanez.com/wiring/wire.asp?y=2004&w=RG2570EX)

The red wire of the bridge should go into the first connector on the switch and the neck should go to the 3rd. On my guitar it seems to be the other way around. Same story with the black/white wires. Is this anything to do with it being a lefty, or does it not matter where you attach them?

Also, both my green wires go into the selector switch rather than to the volume pot, why is this?

Excuse my newbieness but this really is my first go at the world of electronics! Thanks.

yep. If you went exactly by the righty-diagram you'd end up with the neck pickup in bridge position of the switch and vice versa.

If you look closely you can see a small black wire going from the green wires at the selector switch to the back of the volume pot, so it's all ok. That wire needs to be there anyway, so I think they just wired it that way to clean up the wiring a bit. "Back of the volume pot" can be replaced with "anything thats connected to ground"; just like it's the way with your selector switch (because of the black wire I was talking about).

Great. So when I get my new pickups I should just copy this setup exactly?

I remember a few years ago I had some pickups put in a les paul copy I had and the selector switch was reversed so the guy must have put them in wired for a righty I guess!
