Jesus Christ, everyone on Reverb and Ebay wants $5000+ for this guitar. I searched for weeks and I can't find a good price. This is why I always loved and hated these guitars. Not only they already come massively overpriced from the factory, but everyone thinks is a 60s Strat. Now, all the other Japanese Jems have been discontinued except for the overpriced and flamboyant ugly PIA.
This 30th guitar is just a glorified Prestige with a few holes and different colors
The result of this? Every seller overpricing these recently discontinued Jems that are not even anniversaries and thinking they have super unique guitar.
This is why the internet sucks.
I don't think I will ever owe a jem. I refuse to pay these sellers inflated prices let alone buy those Indo guitars and the Pia is just ugly and overpriced too.
They did that on purpose to force people into paying more if they want a new Japanese Jem the PIA is your only option, no thanks
People say you can buy an old one. I don't like the white Jems, everyone and their mother has one. The old ones could have a lot of stuff wrong with them and they are still over inflated.
Problem is now every anniversary they come out with another super overpriced guitar than the last few years, so even if I wait for new anniversaries hoping to get a $3500 price like the 2017, it won't happen as chances are whatever they create will be $7000-10000
35th anniversary is on 2022, what will they come out with, probably some nonsense super PIA or something like that costs 10k
The only reason people want the PIA is that is something different, but the sales won't be good enough, you'll see it happen, the price has a lot to do with it, if the $3000 white Jem wasn't moving much for all these years, but what makes you think this PIA which is a weird design that many people don't like will do any better. Most people just buy used Japanese Jems.
Ibanez now mainly makes their money off the Indo Jems which is what most people buy.
Nobody was buying their white MIJ jems because they were overpriced for so long. They weren't moving enough to justify them, so they discontinued and kept the PIA.
All this does is make people stop buying new from Ibanez and go to the used market.
