I haven't been able to find any info on this. It is a J-Custom with a 5 digit serial, numbers only. How would that be decoded?

This was typical on 01-04 models. My 2003 RG8670 is 39075.

3 = Year
9 = Month?
075 = Consecutive number

I've never completely made sense of this, but it seems plausible. Maybe they don't make JC's all year or maybe the second digit means something else?
