Hi,

Had some time this morning so decided to film an "unboxing" of my DNA (12 years after I bought her). Thought some people might be interested in seeing what it would've been like to buy one, and open her up for the first time.

(didn't have the cardboard Ibanez box with me. That's in storage, can't chuck that away.)

There are some close up detail bits too.

Thanks guys. :)

I've re-uploaded the video without all the flashing between cuts, and replaced the link above.

Do you remember me Wil?

You made me crazy. Very nice swirl.
Hey Flavophysic :) Yes, I remember. It's still not for sale. hehe. I'm actually going to play it more now that I've had it out, and changed the strings.

I forgot how well it plays. The neck and bridge are so stable. The fretwork is immaculate too. Not sure if Australis had someone go over it before I got my hands on it, but man, 10+ years of playing other guitars, and learning how to play better, I sure appreciate this guitar more now than I did when I first bought it.

This a pretty seriously nerdy. Shame on me too, I watched to video......:)

lol, yeah. It is nerdy. But I figure if I wanted a particular type of guitar but couldn't get one, I'd like someone to do something like this too.

Its amazing.... but honestly id never buy one, because I couldn't just keep it in its case for 12 years :p
I bought it to play, and I did play it for the first year and a bit. It was my main guitar for that period of time. Then I started gigging, and I just couldn't bring myself to take it out of the house. So I bought other guitars and used them. Then I learnt I prefer fixed bridges over trems, so I stopped playing my trem'd guitars.

Now though, now that I've had this thing out, and restrung it. Damn. I can't put it down.

Thank you for sharing this nice vid ! I think we got our DNA's nearly at the same time. I got mine in April 2001. I can remember i felt like a little child on Christmas during the first "unboxing"

Heya WMerkert! :)

Yeah, I think you got yours just before mine, if I remember correctly. I think of our DNA's as brothers. Seeing as we got them and started posting up threads about them around the same time. I can still remember the photo of you with the swirled shirt(I think it was a swirled shirt) playing your DNA...and that huge smile!

Wow time flies. It seems quite a lot of the old frequent posters seem to have moved on. Though, I did find some on FB (like BobOakman, cerealk, etc). It's good that you and sebastian are still around. :)

Now I am GASSSING for a DNA!
Nice swirl!
Wow! That just looks awesome! You are a lucky guy!
wow..thats one beautiful guitar...u rock bro...
Cheers guys :)

That's very cool wilch! I like the fade to black much better. If I can make one suggestion. At the end, instead of putting the DNA back in the case you need to plug it in and let us hear it! Yeah! ^ ^

Awesome guitar, dude! My 7VWH is a 2000, and when I was buying it, I wanted an FP. I was told they were discontinued but they showed me what I could buy. One option was the DNA, but I actually thought at the time about playing it vs. collectors item and went with the 7V. But I always think, what if?
