Picked up this PMC a few days ago, the story is, she had been sitting in a barn for years, (looks like 10 plus years) ended up in the hands of a pawn shop owner, so he posted it on *b*y not having any idea what it was, I won and drove to pick it up in person. The guitar was so dirty, it had a black film all over it, tweaked neck, black strings, dirt everywhere, rusted parts, frets are so nasty, blackish green like color, I wish my digi-cam could pic up the details, just can't see how dirty & shot out she is in the pics, yet one of the most exciting parts is there is no fading at all, and looks to be all original other than the 5 way switch cap. Awesome swirl colors!

She is under construction getting reconditioned at the moment, here is a few pics after I did a quick wipe down before starting the part by part cleaning.

The Pic 4th from the top (#36) shows the true colors better than the rest.
It sounded like you didn't want anybody to bid on it by the way you described it in your "PMC ALERT" thread, but good luck with her anyways.......especially for the cash you dropped on it!

Yes, I think it has great potential but I recall you warning us about the bad twist in the neck...something like "The neck has a twist, very large amount of over bow forward on the low side, yet not near as much on the high side, and a waiver up the high side".

Couldn't be that bad after all huh? as I'm led to believe twisted necks are pretty much unfixable but as always, I wish you well.
Yes - Good luck indeed. PMC's are rare and awesome Jems:D

BTW - I heard it through the "Jem"vine that this went to $ 2,0008O - is this true??

This pains me......to think this sat unprotected in a barn for 10 years:mad: What kind of idiot would do that??? Uh.....I'll never be able to understand.....NEVER NEVER NEVER!!!!

Please do a good job on her and bring her back (if possible)

Good luck with the neck mate......Oh...and clean that maple board would ya:D

Yep, certainly sounds like you were trying to put people off it in order to grab yourself a bargain. Tut Tut Tut...

+3, by the way you described it, one would be crazy to bid on it, then you end up buying it! Sounds fishy because alot of people on this site would have bid on it, including me. I even posted about the guitar and decided not to bid based on your post. Really fishy.
Or really smart. I mean come on now, no one who is after a guitar is going to advertise it to other people and tell them it's a good buy. And if he didn't mention anything at all, then someone else may have pointed it out, or other people would have bid on it and he may have lost, or spent more money.

Congrats man, don't let these guys get to ya, you did the smart thing

Not advertising a guitar you are interested in buying is one thing but giving information to discourage other people from bidding is an overt act and sleazy in my opinion especially if its to other jemsiters. Its just something I would not do.
No offence, but that's why you don't have the guitar
Plus, I just looked up the other thread, and he gave warnings about it, but also said that it would make a good player after being worked on. So he said it was in rough shape, but not unsalvageable.

Oh, and it's not like he gave false information or anything, he described the condition and his opinion. The only thing that changed was obviously the amount he was willing to spend on it.

I just read the previous thread also, and there is nothing mis leading about it, just his own observastions on the guitars condition. Even Rodney was suprised to see damage he didn't notice on first inspection.
Its a shame some are bitter. Just glad to see it go to a good home and get the much deserved TLC it needs.
Can't wait to see some after photos!
He did exaggerate on the neck's condition though didn't he? If it was that twisted it wouldn't be salvagable & he wouldn't have paid $1500 for it ;)

Sleazy indeed

+1. Any one know how to fix a twisted neck? I would like to know because I was always told it can't be done.

I am not bitter or jealous, I just feel the way things went was questionable, so I am questioning.

And Koss, if I don't have the guitar for those reasons, I think it's a good thing I don't have the guitar.

Well, there isn't anyway for us to tell if he exaggerated on the neck condition. But if what he said about the neck was true, then it might not be fixable, but the only way to know is to try right?

And I want to point out that impulse is a dangerous thing. Maybe he wasn't going to try and win it, but the temptation for a potentially awesome guitar got to him. Before anyone else calls him sleazy or says that he was out to drive others away, try re-reading the other thread. Not once did he say stay away, he gave an opinion on the condition, and warned all the jemsiters that they might not get what they were expecting if they won it. If you don't know how to fix up a guitar, then he helped you out.

And, while I don't think this is the case, if he was out to throw everyone off, then good job. We're all just a bunch of people, living seperate lives. Just because we are part of the same forum, doesn't mean that everyone has to be treated like family. I'm sorry but it's true. If you are on e-bay and see a hidden gem and can get it for a great price by exaggerating a bit, but you don't because your internet friends will think it's low, then im sorry, but you're a fool.

Koss, I'm not going to attack you personally, I will just say we have different values and leave it at that. Peace.
