I wouldn't say legato is easier than alternate, or the other way around. But Satch has a great legato technique. Or at least he was miles ahead 20 years ago in the instrumental rock genre.

For me, Satch is more about music than showcase, and if he plays too many notes for you to follow, then it's shred. If you can follow him and understands what he does - then you probably don't think of it as shred (shred being a bad thing in this context).

Isn't 24 notes per second enough shred? Give me your definition of shred, and it will be easier to find examples - if there are any.

Satch said early on that he liked the jazz approach, hence the song structures.
