JS 2450 Cure for Push Pull switch clunking noise

I’m not sure what other models this may apply to but my brilliant JS2450 only had one thing I didn’t like and that is the loud audible clunk/bang that you get when you push the knobs down to the pushed position. The whole cavity and strings vibrate.

I’ve cured this by removing the knobs and putting 2 x Size 10 O rings on the shafts and replacing the knobs. The secret is to just press very slightly down before tightening. You are then rewarded with a quieter click. There’s a little more resistance turning the knobs but I actually prefer this.

See pics below. The knobs sit slightly higher (see difference between volume and tone after I did one) but honestly they scared me being that close to the finish. This way the knob can’t accidentally drop to mark the finish.

The two rings may look high but there’s a big cavity under those knobs. Using one didn’t make any difference.

Nice fix. Does the trem arm still swing clear of the volume knob when the knob is pulled up? I had to lower the volume knob on a PIA a bit from where it was when I received it b/c the trem arm brushed against it when I pulled it up to engage the high-pass filter. I'm sure it depends on the overall setup, but sometimes there isn't that much clearance between the arm and the volume knob.

Yes, setup may affect this but no problem on mine.
