Alright so I re-read through the old thread, which I even commented on much to my surprise. It's 2 years later and Ibanez is still using the KTS rods on the US Prestige S series with maple/walnut. I even sneaked a peek at the Japanese site and their Prestige S has the KTS still as well. As far as I can tell it's disappeared from all the RG line altogether.

The only thing I can guess is that a thin neck AND body somehow benefit from it? I can only come up with that because I would think that Ibanez would have wanted to streamline neck production since the profiles, I thought, were the same between the S and the RG. This also makes the S the only Prestige, as far as I can tell, that doesn't have the new luminlay side-markers. I have to admit, this one kind of aggravates me because I LOVE the new markers' visibility in low light.

Anyhow, I was just curious if anyone had any more experiences, or if the consensus was still that it was marketing?

Luke
