HI,

My friend gave me this Ibanez les paul custom guitar, I've tried doing some research but couldn't find the information i need. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!!!:cool:

All i know about it is:
* left hand guitar
* should be from 70's
* has set neck
* star on tunners
* no serial number

Please help me out with my questions:
* How much does it worth?
* what model is this?
* year model?
* what is that switch beside the tone knob? what does it do?
* what pick ups are they?

Well, it's probably late 70's, worth about $300 in it's condition. Pickups look to have been replaced so no idea without yanking them out what they are. Far as the switch, no idea what the mod was done for so you're gonna have to plug in to see what it does. Maybe it's a single coil tap? Not sure of the exact model name as Ibanez usually just called the a Les with a model number. Tuners are def original.

What you have is a 1973 model 2386 lefty which has been fitted out with a Maxon Hi-gain pups that were available from ibanez around that period. Pretty original except the extra switch.

Thanks, the pick ups sound agressive and has worm tone. I've just re-strung the guitar and sounds awesome, the sustain rings forever.
But till not sure what the switch does :(
Anyways i'm gonna sell it since i can't play left hand guitar. I'm gonna put it on gumtree then ****.
Please let me know if there is anyone interested in this Vintage item.
Thanks in advance!!!!!

Just an update, i have swapped it with a white Jem 555 wh korean model.
I have the feeling that the jem is a fake chibanez... still abit confused atm but it plays great, sounds good and looks awesome.
I might have made a big mistake but I mean i hardly even touch that lefty so it does no use to me, and atleast i can play the jem555 and it's a better furniture display for my room!!!
Just hope it's not a chibanez!!!

I have a '70's Les Paul Gold Top copy that I feel may be originally an Ibanez. Can you tell me if they ever made a set neck gold top??

Logo has been replaced with a Gibson Logo

Will post pics tomorrow
Do you mean you bought the pre-serial number Ibanez LPC and now you're putting a Gibson sticker on it? That cheapens the guitar immensely, there's no good reason to do that.

No, No, No...................

That's how I got it. My girlfriends mate's, brother bought it from a pawn (dodgy deals??) shop thinking it was a Gibson and wanted a set-up. When his sister arrived with it held on outstretched arm I had an idea that it wasn't a real Gibson. He had it strung with .13's and the neck was twisted and cracked. I do my own guitar repairs (amateur) and gave him an idea of what it would cost to make playable again to which he said "Stuff it, it's a piece of Sh!t anyway, keep it.."

Replaced the tuners with Gotoh Pearl drops, tender steaming, twisting and carressing, refinished neck and it sounds and plays great:razz:

Haven't made enough posts to put up pics or URL's but if someone can do that for me, that would be great. Just remove the space between the http: & // in the text below.
