edit: ooups! i've droped topic in wrong section, move it plz, sorry
I tried the legacy - its really not a metal amp, imho. You need a dist pedal and probably a Hotplate attinuator to get close to a metal crunch.
Wrong forum.

Anyway, the Legacy doesn't have a lot of gain, and isn't really metal voiced.

i know but is it possible to get good metal sound from legacy's clean chanel + metall stopm or pre + eqs and etc
Yes it is possible. I use a GNX4 through my Legacy and can get an awesome rectifier tone using my GNX4. Legacys are versitile amps, but can't get a good metal tone without help from a good stomp box. Big deal, most of us have a few pedals anyway.
Vai manages some good heavy sounds with his legacy/ds-1 ;)
i'm sure a tubescreamer or DS-1 will do the trick, but if your talking about death metal or anything that involves brutal distortion, then either get a high gain distortion pedal, or get another amplifier, like the others have said, the Legacy is not suited for metal, try Mesa or ENGL instead !
alot of steve's heavier riffs on the records are done with mesa, vth,and whatever other cool toys steve has in the studio. I know for sure that steve has a mesa or 2, he is listed a mesa user and Dave has a mesa stilleto and i belive a vht.

as for metal and legacy, i can't comment much, i will say that if you have some good distortion pedals and set up through the clean on any tube amp you should be able to get a good metal tone.
well i love legacy's sound alot. but sometime i like to play some heavy things: metallica and so on :)
Well just get a DS-1 or a tubescreamer(or if you like some expensive rack gear haha) But legacy jsut ain't a metal amp...

Yea vai uses Mesa's for the rythms for like say Building the church, bad horise (i believe) etc...
