Hey guys,my 3250mz's nut wont lock the E and A strings.Even if i overtighten the allen screws,it wont lock.I can change the tuning with machine heads after the nut is locked.

I noticed that the screw that holding the nut to neck is not tightening the nut enough, its just goes inside a bit then just spin in place.I think that may be the problem.
Do i need a new nut,or can i fix this? Thanks in advance.

sounds like you've worn out the screw or the thread in the nut by over-tightening it. Try one of the other screws to see if it holds the pad down correctly, don't over-tighten. If it does then you may be able to order a new screw. Otherwise you may be looking at the whole unit. I'm not sure if you can heli-coil the nut to repair, but someone here may have more experience.

Let's clarify, if the tighten the E/A bolt, the bolt does tighten?? Because if the bolt tightens it should lock the strings in the nut.

Now the loose nut screw, use a cut E string, medium gap filling CA, and accelerator, run around the inside of the hole, accelerate. let dry. Sometimes you will have to do it twice to get a goot grip on the screw.

If these are the old black screws, stop. They're twist in half. They should be the chrome pan head chinese screws, be careful you don't strip the top +, the screws suck.

I didnt touched the screws before, must be the old owner.I tried the other pads and screws too but they cant hold the pads neither.I checked the hole for the nut screws and looks like the hole is stripped.

Yes,the bolt does tighten, but i can change the pitch after its locked down. The nut screws are flat headed. Will try it.

If the screws that hold the nut on the neck are black and flat headed you must be extremely careful trying to fix a stripped hole as those are the screws that will twist in half if under too much torque.

If the pressure pad bolts tighten the pad but does not lock the strings, how much variation in pitch can you make with the tuners?

Thank you, they are flat headed but chrome.I can change like 40-50 cents after tightening pad bolts.
