The Custom Custom has a very good vintage EVH tone. Going straight from your description of "clearest tightest and punchiest" I'd have to recommend the Megadrive. It will be a little more shrill than an old EVH tone. It will have a sharper attack. Both the Duncan Custom and the C.C. will be more compressed with slightly less "zing". That might be better with your Maple fretboard. If I take your adjectives away and just go with instinct I'd recommend the Duncans.
