i dont know if that would happen but i would love to see it.
my 2 suggestions will be alex sckolnick and marty friedman. marty just might get lost in his oriental ting-tong.
im not overly familiar with those players, but i've listened to some of their bands' songs. do they have any instrumental stuff they'd possibly use? i think this would be rather cool, although it'd prolly turn into an awfully long shredfest!
i think the only guitarrist i know of that is in a band and has a solo album is John Petrucci.
Zakk Wylde, Mick Thompson, Alex laiho.......but it would be as someone said, a pretty loong shred fest....
amott brothers, alex laiho and mick thompson would kill to see that! but yeah as someone said unless they thought of something really imaganitive to do it would just be shredfest :s

The latest G3 in Japan is including Marty as a guest artist
The original project included Mick, Zakk Wilde and Dimebag Darrell. After Dimebag death I don´t know what happened to the project.

Marty (megadeth) Friedman has a few solo albums that he put out before joining deth. I have one called Kiss of the Dragon......some pretty good stuff.
Friedman would be my vote, excellent player, especially with Cacophony.

So sad his playing was so inventive and unique..........it was a sad day i must admit. At least he went out in flames I guess
Love metal, but I think three metal guitarists getting together and shredding over top one another would be a sonic trainwreck. 8O
well if they jammed to some classic metal tracks

Im sure they should be well able to do so

Most of the metal guitarists around no have a lot of knowledge of their instrument so I would say it would be a blast.
Yeah, the original Metal G3 was Mick Thompson, Dimebag and Zakk Wylde.

Unfortunatly, Dimebag was in 'that' incident, and so i dunno what's happened to it. I doubt they'll do it because it just wouldn't be right.
The only real shredders mentioned above are pobably alex skolnick and marty friedman.
As for the others, I would never pay money to watch Zakk Wylde play an instrumental set. Although he did play some intersting stuff on two of Derek Sherinian's CD's he is certainly not a shredder, but his fame as Ozzy's sideshow makes him a guitar god. Has enyone seen or heard him play guitar solos during Ozzy concerts (ie Bodokan, or Live ad Loud, or actual live shows). It's crap. Yes he has great technique but certainly not G3 calliber.

For that matter, I also have a lot of respect for Dimebag (R.I.P.) and enjoyed his plaing but he would not strike me as the instrumental type to be on a G3.

Alexi Laiho is a ****in crackhead who does play some decent solos, and much better than many metal guitarists out there. If he got his **** together he could be one of metal's greatest young guns.

Therefore my list: (1) Friedman, (2) Skolick, and (3) .... maybe Laiho

Although Petrucci is pretty metal if you ask me and kicks all of the above's asses.

Zack is more of a poser these days then a guitar player ;). I don't know about Laiho everybody says he's a good guitar player but has a sh*tty attitude :?.
