i'd just like to say, thanks for off the wall and thriller. Thanks for the evh beat it solo and for steve stevens solo. As weird as weird as he was, he was a 20th century icon and part of my growing up. He competed in the hardest arena when record sales were high because thats all there was, he always triumphed. He will leave a legacy that has to be recognised as being legendary, one that few will ever lay claim to in quite the same way.
rest in peace.

Remember to recycle the plastic parts and please do not bury them.
said this in the other thread but I'll repeat, most likely a hoax. Until it's on actual TV news it's just that.

i was trying to be nice (was i that transparent?)... but now i can let loose as you've opened the floodgates for me! i'll give £2 for his nose. Do you think they'll offer parts of him on the bay? Did i mention i've still not found my digestive biscuit i lost earlier in the sofa? It broke whilst i was dunking it in a cup of tea! what about the folks who have got tickets his stalkers... i mean fans, yes thats it fans. do you think they'll get refunds or do think that idea is off the wall, needless to say there was no chance of him healing the world if he couldn't start with himself. you don't think i'm being off the wall here do you? I think this news is a real thriller either that or its a bad joke. Now where's that biscuit?

Confirmed by CNN and NBC
In a serious moment of tribute;

Amazing dancer, good singer, colossally exciting entertainer. All negatives aside, the man was the King of Pop.
they should melt him down and make him into toys so kids can play with him for a change
i actually meant the writer who wrote the beer guide to the world, gawd only knows who you lot are posting about

MJ's departure has actually been a running gag between me and my mates for a while, having met the real Michael Jackson once in an Antwerp pub.

The other one in the mix is usually General Michael "Mike" Jackson
Well MJ is the perfect example of no money in this world can heal what crap parents do to a kid.
Poor MJ now his nightmare is over.
RIP

Could not have said it better myself.

R.I.P michael jackson...
pretty messed up, true, but still a legend in the world of music.
He is a POP artist and he's mentioned in a guitar/ROCK website. That's gotta be something :)

That could be because of his association with the likes of:
Eddie van Halen
Slash
Carlos Santana
Steve Lukather
Steve Stevens
Jennifer Batten
Dann Huff

I don't think he would be relevant to rock if he hadn't crossed over, by featuring well known rock musicians.

Also, Jacko would not have been played on MTV had Eddie van Halen not lent his guitar solo to "Beat It". MTV simply didn't play black artists in those days.

The question of course is, did he try to break down these barriers out of conviction, or commercial gain? Jacko's previous attempt to cross over to a white audience with the help of Paul McCartney had failed. (mostly for being sappy MOR crap)

BTW prior to Thriller, Jacko was neither pop nor rock. He was R&B, with a bit of disco and dance, but not pop. (outside of the McCartney collaboration)
