Hi all

New member here - Alan in the UK.

I own an RG1570 Prestige which I bought new a number of years ago - love it. I've just also taken delivery of my second Ibanez - a 2018 Genesis RG550 from fleabay. Everything on the 550 looks spectacular in terms of the Fujigen precision, fit and finish and it's virtually mint. The components all look genuine when I compare them with close ups on the web - Gotohs, Edge etc. The only problem is that the serial number on the neckplate doesn't match the five digits after the 18 year on the rear of the headstock. I also own Gibsons and the RG1570 and I can tell quality when I see it. I just have a bit of a worry because of the non matching serial numbers. Is this something that can just happen or do I have cause to investigate further?

The seller also messaged me a receipt which looked good from when it was purchased new.

Thanks in anticipation

Alan

Neck plate number will never match a headstock number.

The plates are JS plates and consecutive, although they're been used on everything from STW's to PGM's in the past.
