Hello everyone! i'm a new member to the site. For all of you RG modders out there, which one of these guitars would be a smarter choice to mod? I'm talking basic pickup changes, pickguard etc...nothing too crazy. Yes I know the obvious price difference, but is the extra cash worth it for the 2550? Or would it be a better idea to mod the cheaper 350? Thanks for any thoughts or info. Btw, this will be my first Ibanez.

Personally, I think that all of the Ibanez guitars are worthy of modding. I modded my RG370DX (which is my main axe right now) and it's 10 times better because of it. Of course, most would agree that the 2550 is a MUCH better guitar than the 350 (hence the price difference) so if you prefer playing the 2550 AND can afford it then definitely go that route. Prestige guitars have a higher resale value as well. The only reason I could think to even get a 350 if you can afford a 2550 is if you already have like a JEM or something and you just want a guitar to kick around that's not totally crappy.
I don't have a jem, I own a fat strat,a parker fly, and a few others...no Ibanez so I guess i'm an Ibanez newb. The price doesn't really bother me, it's that I hear people on the site talking about how they modded their 350's and 370's like yourself to an awesome guitar to the point where there is little difference (sound wise atleast) between that and their jem or other high end guitars. Maybe they were overexagerrating? or did I get the wrong impression? Thanks for your help.

Mod the 2550. It has better woods, better craftsmanship, and it comes with a nice case. However, it all comes down to how much you'll like the neck though.
