I'm moving and I don't fully trust the moving company so I want to keep my guitars with me. Problem is I am going to TX so it is hot hot hot and will take 4 days. I plan on putting them in the bed of the truck that has a locking tonneau cover. One is in a case the other a gig-bag. Should I be concerned about damage during the trip? Strings are loose but google tells me during hot weather that might not be enough. Thanks in advance.

How many guitars you talking about? Best to get them from one controlled environment (AC) to another in the least time possible.
Not sure how hot your truck gets but, aside from setup, one thing heat does is affect magnets, perhaps your pickups.

I try to keep mine from drastic or quick temperature changes. Anything you can do to slow down the temperature change helps. I have put guitars in their cases and put them in sleeping bags (for camping) just to insulate them and slow down the temp fluctuation (in my case it was extreme cold, below 0)... but I'm kind of weird about stuff. They say EVH used to throw his guitar in the back of his truck with no case and drive to gigs in SoCal... lol.
