Well, that's the deal, my dad is travelling to USA, (I'm from Argentina) so I have to choose one......

I have an ibanez gio which I hate so I really need a new guitar.
and I have a pod hd 400 which I believe is faaaaar inferior to an axe fx 2.

I might later get a descent guitar here but not a musicman.
And i may never get an axe fx 2 again.

Tough choice. I went axe back in 2009 and have desired no other rig except when I upgraded to the axe 2 and I could be happy the rest of my life with this. That being said, I demoed the jp 11 and 12 recently and they are really nice guitars. I almost pulled the trigger on the 11. I went home and played my ibbies and forgot all about it.My wallet was happy! Maybe your dad could get you an axe 2 and a used 550 or 570. But a good guitar is awesome too. Either way I bet you can't wait for him to return.

Have him buy you a used Rocktron Prophesy for about 400.00 and that will leave lots-o-money to buy a nice used rg550 or 570.

I agree...I actually think the pod hd units are pretty decent for the price...I've heard some pretty nice tones made with those units...but an Ibanez gio?!....yuck...that is the bottom of the barrel for Ibanez guitars...GET THE GUITAR!!!

Get a cheaper guitar and invest the rest of the money on a guitar school/teacher whatever.
Why nobody here ever think about putting money on studying?
Why nobody here tells people to invest in studying?
It doesn't matter if you have the best/the worst gear in the world if you can't actually play guitar and make music, they'll all sound the same.
You already have a pod so get a cheaper guitar and a guitar teacher and I hope in 1-2 years you'll be making cool songs for us to enjoy
