This is my RG550LTD made in 1994. I've made some modifications in order to improve its appearance and sonic character;

1) Changed the block from its original to brass
2) Refretted from nickel silver to jumbo stainless steel
3) Swapped its pink pickguard to this purple-ish one come from an RG2550

https://guitarism-tr.blogspot.com/2019/04/humbucker-modsV1Dimarzio.html

-) Modified Dimarzio/IBZ on the neck
-) New wiring to use outer bobin of neck humbucker for the split sound of 1st position
-) Kinman type treble bleed modifed to humbuckers

5) Yesterday, in order to improve the Dynamics of the wound strings i swapped the screw pole pieces to hex coils.

I love the way it looks with the subtle changes you have made. I think the black pickups look great with it.

You could maybe mock up come covers out of different coloured paper then look at it from a distance. The white pickups would complement the sharktooth inlays IMHO.

I think that a metallic foil would be a good option for the tops of the bobbins. Contact paper or even a holographic wrapping paper and a little quality spray adhesive (and i MEAN a little) would be a great option, long lasting yet fully replaceable, plus easily swappable to whatever your next taste might be.

I think that's for teh best on this guitar, it's got a nice dark board and hardware so the black pickups just work on this one.
