Try Antivir or Avast both of them have a free version for home users. I myself use avast because it has very nice network shield plus antivirus checker for various p2p programs and so forth. Hope this helps :).

Norton anti-virus is good bro!,or Vet anti-virus, go to http://www.softpedia.com -search for lots of good downloads there, but make sure you type in free to see what programs are 100% free, theres stacks of stuff free! sounds like you need- Spybot Search&Destroy, thats a good tool bro,it stops a lot of problems! &- CCleaner crap cleaner is tops for removing your tracks on your pc.
GOODLUCK BRO!- JAKE
go with Norton. you can get 6 months virus definitions free from google then just resubscribe for like $29.

http://pack.google.com/

just unselect everything and install Norton AV via google... glen
thanx guys! I'll try'em! It would be nice to log on to msn and not get my head chewed off.... ;)
You can also try ClamAV which is an opensource Anti-virus.
Another top one, www.trendmicro.com I haven't had any problems since installing it.
I've been using AntiVir on all my machines...it's small and relatively unintrusive. Norton has gotten too big, IMO.

oh...it's FREE too :)

Norton takes up way to much CPU power compared to Antivir and Avast but the worst of them all is Sophos. That thing is completely useless.

Avast or AVG as realtime scanner
AV Personal as extra on demand scanner
Who needs to pay for bloatware?

I will have to agree, I have been using Avast on all of my home PCs for almost 2 years now, it updates almost every day, and has cought every virisu & trojens/spyware that has attacked my PC... and I do play around with warez from time to time. :)

Nortons has messed up my PCs in the past, its heavy program on your resources. Go with the free ones (Avast), just register and you will be set to go.. it will also run in DOS mode and clean out your memory too.

Hopefully your PC is not to far gone... that system dlls are infected, Well Good Luck!

The other shade of Blu;)
spyware doctor...i use it and it does a great job (for free too)
Steer well clear of Norton. Ineffefective in too many instances in my experiences, and updates were very few and far between. Maybe once a week. I now use Trend Micro which is doing a fantastic job and i haven't had any problems since i've been using it. It also updates as and when updates become available, which generally is at least once a day and often more.

Still ,do what i did and read as much as you can about any software you wanna use, and read as many reviews as you can find on the net. It took me a while but i finally went with Trend micro, a bit expensive but weel worth it in my opinion.
Seriously Norton is really, really bad. They don't detect anything that anyone actually gets. Their updates are 3 years behind.

Go to www.grisoft.com and download the free edition of AVG. It's much better than Norton. Also Bitdefender is real good (www.bitdefender.com).... seems to be the best as far as picking up viruses but their free edition is only a scan and not a shield.
