Just got a hold of Pain Necessary To Know by Ephel Duath- good stuff!

For anyone who hasn't heard of them, they're a black metal band that went jazzy, some very unique guitar playing in their new style! Fans of Mr Bungle and Zappa should find enjoyment in their music.

I heard some of their earlier stuff, the closest to jazz-metal fusion I've ever heard...

Thought their crazy jazz drummer was cool and the Painter's Pallette in gen. was really well conceived.

Is the new one heavy?

Its difficult to say. The singing has completely gone and so has the brass. This time around, the jazzy sections are less straightforward and more confusing. Is it heavy? Its hard to describe, i think its a little heavier than the Painters Pallette. Very very different album though.
