Going back and forth between buying a UV70P and waiting for a UV7BK, I finally found one of the latter and took the plunge. It's possible you've seen this one on ebay (Europe). The previous owner had a replacement neck built by a luthier (Jacaranda) with similar support layering seen in newer necks (including a small volute) as well as an ebony fretboard. Sadly no green dot inlays though (i.e. not a proper greendot). Fret not, I have a NOS replacement neck coming in next week and I'm hoping to restore the guitar as much is possible.

Sadly, other things were also modded that was never disclosed when talking to the seller. It has a 3 way switch with the middle, single coil disconnected (going to fix this). The neck pocket was sanded by the luthier such that the UV stamp was removed... you can see some of that red quality control marker though. He also replaced the strap buttons with some sort of schaller locking type which for some reason required removing some of the finish on the horn? Really strange. All in all, it cost the same as a UV70P in Europe (1777 USD) and about 750 USD less than the latest sold listings I could find in Europe. With the original neck I hope to do a proper setup because the frets would need leveling on the current neck.

I am unbelievably jealous of you guys with access to meinl.... (if thats where you got it from haha)

At any rate, Ill be honest, that "murdered out" look is fantastic for me lol. But with the access to replacement parts like that, yeah I'd probably be about it as well! Got all the bits n bobs there too. Those blaze ii's are fantastic btw; at least Im hoping thats what you have in there. (Expensive "fix" otherwise)
Hope you enjoy it :)

We all know its for better strap to body connection for better tone ;)

Yes  I couldn't believe it myself! I'm so used to sourcing parts in the US or Japan - it almost felt too good to be true lol, asked for more product pics just to be sure

Yeah I do like it too - the ebony really goes well with the blacked out design so I'll keep it and get it refretted etc. - maybe for another build? Who knows. But yes... I really hope they are the original blazes. I mean, I did ask him and he said "they're original", but he said the same about the rest of the guitar (besides the neck) so who knows.. But I'll take a look at the eletronics as the neck arrives and hope for the best lol.. Finding ones that have aged for 30 years must be impossible...

If you dont mind, whats the "process" involved here? Do you just order and its good or do you have to like "prove it" or whatever? My australian friend and I have a ... "wager" about this. Ironically we just spoke about it a couple days ago lol.

considering its a square heel neck, might be a bit difficult to get a "project" going around that... Dont recall too many people making square heel bodies haha.

You'd think so but I've come across a few sets of them; at least the humbuckers anyway (installed in like a 7621 or something)

Heres what youre goin for (hopefully better shape lol) ->

You just order and they go by shipping address I think - I haven't encountered anything more than that so far

Hmm true, I think I've seen at least one somewhere, but don't remember. But that's a later problem
