Just picked this one up recently, and liking it very much. Will likely drop a pair of Gravity Storms into it shortly, but other than that it will remain stock. Until I get it painted another color :) More pics later, at work right now

Very nice Jim, I've been wanting one for a long time too. There's one on my local craigslist, but the guy won't budge on price...... I'm hoping he'll eventually drop below $1k. How much did you get yours for?

FWIW....I like it in white best and I love my gravity storms.

Congratulations Jim,

They're a great axe, I know there was a lot of discussion on whether or not they're a "real" Jem, but I feel they match all the criteria apart from the scalloped 4 frets which to me is a bit like having tits on a bull. I picked up mine before Xmas, took me months to track one down and eventually when in my local ibby dealer mentioned that I was looking for one. He said they had stopped making them in 2011, but curiously there was one showing on his inventory, he went searching the warehouse and found it behind a pallet of amps in its box. Gave it to me for €750. It's my favourite axe, I love the tall frets and the maple board. Initially I thought I was sufferning from new toy syndrome, but it hasn't worn off, still the same feeling when I take it out. Before you swap out the pups it may be worth trying Lone Phantom's magnet switch between the bridge and neck, I did it and actually quite like the results. A question, I notice yours appears to have chrome hardware, was the hardware swapped out at some point? Or, did it vary over the 2 years they were produced? Mine is 2010 and has black hardware. Another rather strange question, does yours have a rather pleasant noticable smell? This is the first guitar I have owned that had a scent.

@ RGT, hang in there, it should definitely be well below $1,000 in the US which after all is guitar heaven compared to Europe. I've picked up a few axes in perfect condition from people who played Strats/LPs that decided to try something more "modern" only to realise they hate floating bridges - a lot of LP & Strat players seem to love to rest on the bridge which is a bonus for us when it comes to picking up a coveted axe at the right price. Considering 550s sell for a few hundred dollars there, but are never below €600 here I'd try knocking him down to €700ish, after all it was discontinued after 2 years, so even though I love it and would buy a black one in a heartbeat my finger must be well and truly off the pulse.

I got it shipped, in a new case, for $800. Pretty pleased all in all. I usually see them for 1000-1100, but if you can wait a month or two one will pop up for less.
