Thursday night I traded my RG1527 for this beauty!! It needs a bit of cleanup and a good setup but this guitar really plays like a dream!!!

Some Specs:

Mai Guitars custom Swamp Ash Jem/565 body (565 route with lions claw, angled jack, and Jem full contour joint)

'91 RG570 square joint neck with MOP tuner buttons

Perfect condition Original Edge w/OFR bar (gonna change this back to Ibanez)

BareKnuckle Painkiller in the bridge- It's gonna take some getting used to, but this is a VERY nice pup!!

DiMarzio Air Norton S in the neck- nice, but not what I was hoping for.

Standard Tele 3-way and 500k pots- This is all going bye-bye. I have an all new setup in mind.

That's a beautiful chunk of wood.

Appreciate the no-logo as well. To be honest, it gains more mojo like that.

Is it bare wood? Sealed, oiled?

Thanks man!!

I dig the headstock as/is too.........it just seems to fit the guitar.

The body is tung-oiled........

Thanks so much guys!! This is my first swamp ash guitar, fist BKP, and first AN single.....so it's a lot to take in. It's worlds away from my RG7xx's and my eagle, I can tell you that much for sure.

Surprisingly, it's about the same weight as a basswood RG so, it's VERY comfortable. Chris Mai did a really nice job on the body, but there are a few things that I think could have been better. From what I hear, all of my little issues have been fixed on newer models though.

@P: I think I'm really gonna love this BKP. Unfortunately before I tried the guitar out on my usual rig I re-tubed my amp....ALL 12 OF THEM.........LOL. I should have tried the guitar out beforehand because my amp sounds drastically different now.......everything is sounding WAY too hot.

@F: LACS??? I WISH DUDE!!! If I could get my hands on one of Rob Balducci's guitars for even an hour.......................

@S: I'm loving the H-S too!! H-S-S has always been my cuppa tea, but I'm really digging this setup. I mainly use the bridge and neck anyway and I think the extra wood between looks great.......maybe even adds a bit to the tone too???? It does sound nice, but the electronics gotta go.......once I can split the pups and switch phasing, I'll be a lot happier with it. I do have to say that I'm not thrilled with the ANS yet. Maybe once I get the rest sorted out it'll fall into place.

I quite liked the ANS in the RG465 I reviewed. Maybe play with it a bit more. I'm liking the AN you gave me. Recently installed it. Great tone, although I'm toying with the idea of dropping an alnico 8 magnet in for a bit more power!

Very nice, Ryc. The good news with it being oiled wood is that if there are some issues with the body, you can just fix 'em up and then re-oil it.

I love H-S pickup configuration and have it on my 540P as well as my UCGR Strung Out, which is still in pieces.

Thanks Jesse! the only thing I can't fix is the cavity covers....they're too big. I'll have to make new covers to fit. I think I'll make some more wood ones for them.

Note: 3rd time Balducci's name has been evoked on Jemsite in a week. I'll let him know we should be on his payroll

Oh, he just referred it it as an LACS here http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...05305820.24120.100001271841098&type=3&theater , Thats all, no prob.

Yeah, RB is pretty cool! But I wish there was a camera rolling when I nearly tripped into SSVs lap8O .Now... he totally played it cool. Honestly, he didn't even seem to notice, which is good, I can just see the secret service (Kevan, jaxadam) jumping out from behind a table and taking me down to the ground, lol!!
