Hi guys-

just wondering if anyone knows anything about how to get that industrial, nine inch nails esque guitar tone....you know the one im talking about. im wondering if there's certain effects that bring it out, or if it's all done by eq'ing/general tweaking of a regular guitar tone. thanks.

I found an old gutiar magazine recently where they interview Reznor just after he finished recording downward Spiral. Apparently a lot of the guitar on that album was record direct, A Marshall JMP-1 preamp was plugged into a little zoom multieffect unit (Trent didn't like the speaker sim on the marshall so used the zoom for that) and then into the desk. Lots of the guitar was layered like a million times and most parts were bounced out to analogue tape.

That doesn't really help you much though...

He used 2 Pod pros on The Fragile, of course he also HEAVILY manipulates his guitar tones with software, not sure of what specific programs though.

yeah trent is on the computer messing with his stuff a lot now days. No real help though from me on what he does though.
