Dave, it's often been mentioned that you didn't use a wah on the album, Shove the Sun Aside. However, on the first guitar (the first one you hear) in the song "Shove the Sun Aside" at the beginning, sounds like it has a wah effect. I've just been curious about this.

Yes, that's the only wah on the cd. Just like the whammy bar, I think there's only one instance of whammy bar use on the cd as well. Nothing against either, I just think both have been used to death in this genre so I wanted to try a different approach

You raise a good point. Not using the wah, whammy bar, or other toys really makes you focus on writing good music. Your album is very refreshing in the land of guitar-centered rock. Can't wait for you to write your next album!

What gets me is the change between soft and heavy parts, its so very Dave Weiner! Also the drifting from happy to sad scales like in Monument Shrine, and the first wierd lick in The Long Run, very original stuff! Thats all I've been playing today.

I've been wah free for about 5 months now, I've also put up the whammy bar. I've found myself becoming more expressive through vibrato and bending. Dave has a good point the genre has plenty of vibrato whammy kings. :)
