for PAW, was it all recorded using a UV or a JEM/UV combo
i assumed it was JEM on some, Uv on others, then i saw the FTLOG video and it got my mind goin as hes using a UV there, and the cover guitar is that awesome swirl UV, so i started wonderin if it was all UV!!

I'm not totally sure of this, but I think it was all UV;)
UV. ;) Then again, he had Jem's too so.........
there's certainly tunes that use only 6 strings on the album. I'm sure any songs that use only the top 6 strings are songs played on a six string (save for the love of god.) Then again it's a great album, does it really matter how it was made?
A UV7PWH? Nice. Yeah, I agree with Jemwielder that it's a great album regardless of how it was made. :)
he said it was all 7's but Sisters was recorded on a 6... he also mentioned 1 or 2 more songs being recorded on a 6.
He used both 6 and 7 strings. I'm at work so I can't get the info, but in the intro of the P&W tab book Steve lists all of the equipment he remembers using. If I remember later I'll look it up.
Straight from the Bad Horsie's mouth as quoted in the PAW Tab book...

"Three Ibanez Universe 7 String Guitars - Black, white and psycho-colored. On the tune "Liberty", the Black 7-String Universe was used on all distorted sounds such as the melodies and harmonizer.

Ibanez Jem 7, 77 and 777.

BC Rich Double Neck

Tom Anderson custom guitar

Charvel Green Meanie"

Yeah, i have the PAW tab book and was reading that, though i'm pretty sure he just listed all his current signature guitars at the time to keep Ibanez happy and the legal people at bay...
Where's Mikey? He should know this stuff...or be able to find out.

I've always wondered myself if Steve really wrestled a 7 for the whole thing.
That would just be MORE impressive in my book.......
If you listen to the commentary track on the Astoria DVD its obvious he used 6s for Erotic Nightmares, cause when Dave plays the intro riff Steve says something like "how the hell do you play that on a 7??"

:)
Yeah, i think the PAW TAB book is probably the best source. So its safe to say that its mostly recorded with UVs.

Also I think he used the UVMCs from late 1990 till early 1992 as his main live players. This is probably the most succesfull period of his career IMHO.

In the Barcelona 92 video he uses a PBK and a GMC. And since 1993 he s been using the 7vwh.
i think most of PAW was recorded with 7er's...and there was only one or two songs with 6...

Oh god, so when i've been getting angry wrestling over that track on my 7, i'm not just terrible?! :p
My guess is that the green meanie was used to record blue powder, since it was written for a carvin demo long long ago :)

Just a hunch.
