Okay, so i've just ordered the Steve Special and Air Norton humbuckers to put in my RG1550 and i'm wondering if anyone knows how they sound?
I know there's descriptions on the Dimarzio site and such, but they still don't explain if they're good for me.
I'm looking for a pickup that's got more dynamics. I need more output, better harmonics and more sustain in the bridge position and i'm wondering - will the Steve Special provide?
When i did the pickup choice thing on the Dimarzio site, it kept comming up with the Evo occasionally the Breed and the Super Distortion. Only thing is, i know that the Evo wouldn't suit me (i don't like the sound of them in Bassword), the Super Distortion just isn't what i'm looking for. The Breed sounds like it'd suit me well, but i'm wondering why none of my choices have come up with the Steve Special/Air Norton that Petrucci used, as that's the sort of sound i'm wanting.
Anyway, any help appreciated!

I wouldn't go by the pickup choosers... they aren't all that great. If you want the Steve's Special and the Air Norton get them. I had them in my basswood guitar and it sounded great! Not my sound but they sounded good. After you install them if you don't like them get something else but at least try something you want rather than something you don't want.
