I like my PodXT for working in the studio and such.
If it's anything like mine, it should be great for playing into a computer and whatever, i'm not sure how it'd cope in live surroundings. Mabye put a valve poweramp through or something.

I'll throw a couple of questions in for the folks that own one here...

Does it have the ability to:

a) Switch between distortion to clean with expression pedal (a la "Tender Surrender")?

or

b) Record a riff and then loop it like the intro to "I Know You're Here"?

I'm really interested in one of these too...

Thanks!

It was my understanding that the change in tone in Tender Surrender was all done on the volume pot.

Don't know about looping.

A good trick with digital gear is to run the out put through a valve compressor to give it some warmth. You can still do this live, straight into a pa, or into a power amp.

You're thikin' like POD, or GNX, or GT Features.... But it depends on what you want... and i want TONE = Pod Xt (live).

And for some other reasons you can't compare a multiefects with racks and $1,000's dlls. Fx...

Right ?

Quick note for ya. The POd XTLive does have the Guitar port software. And wth that you can do some basic recording and looping. And mine has a second pedal (An Ernie Ball volume working as an expression pedal) that allows you to change parameters such as gain and drive by editing the "tweak" feature. And while this pod is sorely missing a Whammy feature (hint to LIne6, if you are reading this) the tweak feature is very useful. With the right programming you can even use the built in pedal as a tweak. So yes you can change drive with the pedal and yes there is some basic looping features available via a computer, although i have not delved in deep enough to see if it can be done without the computer. And bear in mind that you can expand the pod's amp modeling base by adding Model Packs so the 32 they advertise can be expanded. Hope this helps. Joshua

Carlos. There is something truly magical about pedals. No multi effects pedals can match the magic of the real deal. I do reccomend the Pod xt but i would also urge you to keep the pedals in case a song ever arises that is just begging for that magic that only that one specific pedal can get. We have all been there. Trust me. Joshua

The 5150 will serve you well my friend. And of course good choice on keeping the pedals. You may find in the end that you don't need the pod. Or maybe even find an older and simpler processor that meets your needs. I still break out my old Digitech RP1 on occasion. So enjoy the 5150 and let me know how it turns out. Joshua

I've seen some demo on TV for POD XT Live - played from Line6's Variax guitar. The tone - to my ears btw - is just SICK. Especially the part when showed the acoustic guitar tone - OMG it sounded just like the real thing - of course, to my ears! Cuz others most probably have better ears for tone :)

i believe when using the headphones or recording direct, the pod xt sounds unbelievable. when you go through an amp, it still great, but not the same. every amp adds its own color to it.
