I am looking at this model, and honestly, I never had a Ibanez. I currently have a Jackson Soloist SL model, and I am getting the itch for a Ibanez. But the question if have is the edge pro II a decent bridge, or is it a crappy bridge. I don't want to have to be replacing this thing or parts on it alot.

Its a RGT42DXFMTLF model.

i have an edge pro and an edge pro II. visually, they are quite similar - low profile design.

the edge pro is superior, yes, but i wouldn't call the EPII crappy at all. i've given mine plenty of abuse and it's still great. sadly, the two are not interchangeable.

in fact, one of the things i prefer about the EPII is the fact that the arm doesn't rely on bushings.

i think one of the EPII's failings might be the non-locking studs. i've noticed a little play in these on my RGT42FMDR. incidentally, i'm not a fan of the flat finish on the model you're looking at, but each to their own!

I'm not a big fan of neck-thru construction on the regular RGs. The Wizard II neck feels different than it does on the other RGs and that's really one of the main reasons why I liked the guitars in the first place. But if you've played the guitar and you like it, then more power to you. The EPII is a perfectly decent bridge. IMO the EPII and the Edge III stay in tune equally well, but the Edge Pro is still superior. Just remember that with ANY guitar it's important to thoroughly stretch the strings after they've been changed (and generally when you first get the guitar from the factory).

you can get the locking stud's to add to a edge pro2 i think, at least i know you can for the regular edge pro.

You can not get the locking stud mod for an Edge Pro II or an Edge III. Rich mentioned this in another thread.

be prepared for the lovely powder cosmo finish to start shining away, though
mind you, it sort of takes on it's own charm at that point.
