I really want to put a killswitch in my new guitar, but I don't want to modify the body in any way. I don't ever use my tone pot, I just leave it in the treble position. Can I just remove and bypass the tonepot and put the killswitch in there?

You can do this. Or, you could get a push-pull pot and have the switch AND the tone control.

How it'll affect tone depends on the pot value and your pickups. If it's a 250k, you'll probably notice it's a little brighter without the pot. If it's a 500k you may not notice a difference.

Ditching the tone pot will give you a bit more top end. I know one of my guitars with a Duncan JB (1meg volume pot) has better crunch after I ditched the tone pot(I just disconnected the wire).

You could use a push-pull to activate the kill switch but it's not as cool as having a mini toggle to quickly cut in and out.

Just remove it, and the wires that connected the volume to the tone.
