This is kind of pathetic but, I just noticed a few days ago that my tone knob is effectively my volume knob. On this guitar (2008 Ibanez rg2550z Prestige) I have usually been going for a high gain tone, so I usually have the tone knob rolled all the way up. But recently I have been trying to get into some jazz styles and I noticed that my tone knob seems to operate the volume of the guitar? Whenever I roll it back to get a jazzy tone I hear somewhat of a static noise, and then when I turn it just a little bit past the half way mark the the volume takes a hike. My friend thinks it's a loose solder or grounding, I think that's probably pretty accurate, but does anyone have any other ideas? Oh and about 3 weeks ago I changed the pick guard, so I'm guessing that's a possibility of things getting messed up

Thanks,
Greg

definitely a wiring issue.

when i replaced the pots on my 2550z, i had that same kinda problem. i mis-wired it and my volume would only work if the tone was on 10. it was really, really strange.

most likely a wire has come loose or something.
