Hello Folks,
Exploring purchasing either a used, but late models RG550 or prestige RG652.


Get the RG550 and save some money or does the 652 offer superior qualities? The 652 does have Dimarzio pups.


Thoughts?

I think it comes down to looks. Do you want the classic pickguard HSH style? Or do you want the more modern looking HH style with (usually?) a transparent finish over wood grain.

You can always upgrade the pickups on the 550, with the advantage of you can choose brand and model within the same price range.

I like the looks of the 652 a lot better. Their red and green guitars look fantastic. A used one is about $1000.00 so close the price of the 550.

I will keep your suggestion in mind knowing that I can always upgrade the 550 pups. I wanted to make sure there were no other functional differences between the two, other than the pups and looks.
