Hey gang!

So, I've had this one for quite some time and am honestly debating if I want to part with it or keep her forever.

In all honestly, I can't seem to even find record of this existing and am wondering if it was a custom job. The paint sure "seems" stock from a quality standpoint, pictures don't really capture the depth.

I bought this second hand (gently used at the time) back in the early 90's.

Pretty sure its an RG560?

Any thoughts / any idea how to value it?

Nice guitar, it looks like a 1988 or 1989 RG560 with a quality airbrushed custom finish, no idea who did it and it doesn't really add value so it's worth whatever a standard 560 of that era is worth in your locality.

Is it possible its a '93?

The Ibanez pamphlet (which is generic and has details on the trem set-up, etc) is copyright 1993 but I really can't confirm that it actually came with the guitar new, though it was with it when I purchased..

volume pot is too close to be anything but 87-89...in 90 they moved the volume pot a little further away from the pickup...cool guitar btw...d.m.

Unless you can get all the coin you're looking for I'd keep it. Your prospective buyers are going to be limited anyway, as not everyone will want a lightning design on their guitar. Besides if that's a pre 90s RG you have a classic.

I wouldn't bother selling it if I were you. If you like it and you don't need the money right now, it's worth keeping. You probably won't get what it's actually worth anyway. I'd hang onto it especially if you think it's a late 80s RG.

Thanks guys. Just to update the group....

I don't have any of the "larger" guitar shops in my immediate area, but was traveling for work and brought it with me.

Took it into Guitar Center just for grins to see what they would do on trade which as you'd expect wasn't anything to speak of.

As fate would have it, another customer saw it and we ended up making a mutually beneficial deal in the parking lot for far better than what GC offered, lol.

I'm actually quite happy. While I did love the guitar, I simply never grabbed it enough anymore and the new owner seemed VERY psyched about it. It deserves to be played.

Didn't leave with any cash since I turned it into a very nice PRS Tremonti SE.
