Hi everyone, I have a 2000 RG680 that fits really me well and I really like the Lo-Pro. I would like to change the fretboard to maple. I have a great custom builder in the area that I had look at it and he asked what kind of glue Ibanez uses. Does anyone know the answer to that? Has anyone changed a fretboard before that can describe any tips or gotchas?

He also asked if it has a laminated top. In looking at the minimal info available on this model, I think it is the Quilted Maple model. Any tips/gotchas on painting the body a solid color? He thought it could be just scuff sanded, and wouldn't need to be stripped.

Lastly, is it a bad idea to do additional routes like a monkey grip in this body?

Thanks Everybody!

Any bad experiences doing either of these things? I am most interested in the fretboard change and what type of glue they use. Thanks

Most use Titebond

Laminate top is an extra layer of wood laminate over the body.

It's your guitar, you can customize it any way you like.
