Okay, so according to the site here, RG7420XL's were made from 2001-02 and had V7/V8 pickups.
I got a RG7421XL today (new old stock!!) and it has Dimarzio puckups, and deluxe gotoh's and get this, according to the serial it was made 2004...
Its not a fake as it has a 27" scale neck and the body heel joint stamp confirms it...

anyone get it? i have pics if someone wants.

Are you sure you're dating it correctly ?

You're correct in assuming that these haven't been made for a good few years now.

Did you get it for a good price ? What colour is it ?

Im pretty sure im dating it correctly. After all, i learned to date ibanez guitars from this site.. I got a killer deal. And its the only color this guitar comes in (Silver).

Perhaps the Serial number is a mis-print, it wouldn't be the first time it's happened.

It's not Silver either, it's 'Grey Nickel',lol.

Bastard. My birthday is in April.

This is an odd one. Don't know if I should call it a 7421XL LTD or a 7621XL LTD. Or something else altogether. I know there were a bunch of hybrid 7420s and 7620s made and 7420s having necks marked 7620 (or 7520 as it were) back in what, 1998-1999? and stuff... but this takes the cake. And I've never seen that placement of the XL logo either...

yeh i had one of those 7520s too it was a RB. but was more of a 7620 according to its hardware. it was the one that got ran over by the pizza hut guy in the music-go-round parking lot... :/
