Merry Christmas everyone. I am messing around with Not of this Earth from the Satch man and was trying to figure out how he gets his solo tone. Not trying to get exact just simular. I have a line 6 m9 if that helps. I am pretty new to pedals and still figuring out what sounds do what an go together. Thank you in advance for the tips.

JS solos are surprisingly clean, lots of sustain and power tube saturation but not much distortion, pretty typical of a Marshall turned up loud but with the pre-amp gain backed right off, try it with a tube screamer. Use a compressor to make all the slurring sound more legato, there's some chorus on that album as well as reverb and delay which was typical of the era.
I have no idea how you'll get the sound with a digital multi-fx, you'll have to play around with it.

that's a great question to which very few can answer...the rockman sound is unique because of a coupla factors...the sound was compressed going in, effected then expanded coming out...scholz nicknamed this trait "companding"...also theres not a whole lot of bass and certain midrange frequencies boosted...add in a stereo chorus and/or an echo/delay and you're pretty much there...the video below explains a lot of it and uses bias or some other modelling software but he shows the eq settings...d.m.
