Hey guys!
So, lately i've been creative on guitar a lot and i write a lot of cool stuff. Because i would sometimes forget all the licks that i come up with, i always record myself. I record with my phone in front of the amp. The recorded sound is crappy, muddy and really horrible. Is there any cheap recording devices that i would plug jack in an record with a decent sound? I don't need a good sound, i just need something that is better than my phone's mic. It's gotta be fast and simple, when i come up with something i want to record it right away. I've seen zoom and sony portable recorders, but they are way to expensive and have way too many things.
greetings, metal up! \m/

I bought a Tascam DR-05 and couldn't be happier. What is your price point? The most you will pay for this is 99 USD ( I've seen them for 69 new at GC and online) but it has great playback sound. You can record full bands or whatever with great results. You can download the tracks to your PC or laptop too and use them as you like.

As much as this tascam looks awesome, i need something really simple and cheap, i'm not giving anything more than 40€. Playback quality doesn't have to be great, it just has to record stuff fast and for a cheap price.

Try get your hands on a second hand Line 6 Guitar Port. They usually sell for around the 40 to 50 mark. Plug directly into your computer and record your licks in Reaper (available free). The line 6 software does an OK job at simulating some amps and effects. Also means you can play any time through headphones without having neighbours queueing up with burning torches.

the zoom range of pocket recorders is quite good, I own a H2 (now replaced by H2N if I remember well) it's very convenient! for rehearsals, ideas at home, recording the dog when we're not here, etc!!!

lol, he's singing, barking (a bit) or doing some minor damages, but audio surveillance is better than nothing when we're not there

Boss Micro BR, the first generation one. Used goes for $60-$80 and it has good enough sounds (COSM and cab emulation) built in plus an external mic. 4 track recording and drum loops also. Biggest drawback is the 1 gig sd card limitation but you can still record tons of stuff. Great for late night practicing without bothering anyone also. I love mine. Not sure what they go for over there but you should be able to get one cheap.
