Hi,

I want to put a Ceramic single coil into my Ibanez PGM30jb. The pickup I want to install is a Dimarzio Chopper DP184.

Is this compatible with my electric guitar?

No they have 2 coils. Each rail going across is a coil. It's 4 conductor but it has 5 wires... black, white, red, green and bare. That pickup was used in the js24p Joe Satriani Indonesian made Ibanez guitars in the neck position. I used to have one.

The red wire goes to your switch, the black and white are soldered together, and the green and bare wire are soldered to a ground. That will make it work like a regular humbucker.

If you want to be able to coil split the pickup as well, then you need to have a mini toggle or push pull pot... Use the black and white wires that are soldered together... And make the switch send those to ground when the switch is engaged... That will make one coil drop silent... Giving you a single coil sound.
