A little scrap lumber.............I wonder what I should do with it?????

22" x 23" x 1-3/4" Raw Purpleheart;

And a tiny bit of highly flamed maple (the pics don't do the figure justice)

The Maple is 5/8" thick, 7-5/16" wide.

Any thought's on what to do with it????:lol::lol:

I tried that once.........still paying off the medical bills......8O

It wasn't my best work.:D

Not to mention: I'm allergic to purpleheart......I already scratch my a$$ enough!!!!
Lovely bit of maple.
I'd love a nice stained veneer top.
I think you should make me something sweet, maybe a stringed instrument of some sort. :D

I'll be damned........That's EXACTLY what I was thinking.

"Stephen needs a new exotic custom for FREE, doesn't he??"
Never too late to practice karate chops?
Sounds like more med. bills for me........LOL

Thanks man......I'm thinking about a carved top, RG-like, custom.

As long as you can spare the body do it for sure!
I really wanted to go with veneer but as I only have one RG I was put off by the permanence of it.

I found some really nice wood online as well, prices are nothing for such thin amounts.

Great things you can do with stain and with a nice grain you got more to work with.
I would pick a traditional, properly polished finish over any other, any day!

 Well, I'll tell you what, it'll be mine, but it can stay at your house so I have something to play when I visit. ;)
So, a solid-purpleheart body, UCEW-esque RG with a flamey maple neck? Do a laminated neck with strips of purpleheart between the laminates. Maybe purpleheart inlays (dots or a vine or sharkteeth) on a maple board? Oh, and a purpleheart laminate on the headstock.

Just make sure you seal everything so you don't break out in a rash every time you pick it up. ;)

I still have a solid 3-1/2"x3-1/2"x 46" piece of CLEAN tight flamed maple waiting to become a neck (or neck-thru??)

I don' know what direction to go in yet, but whatever I do, Stephen is gonna love it!!! LOL

I'm going to use the purpleheart for the body with a thick maple cap......carved, arched, or flat top.....I don't know yet.
I can sympathize with the allergy, I finished a beautiful warmoth strat in tung oil satin just to realize that tung oil is an asian tree nut that gave me a strong allergic response. I had to sell it.

I think you should make a sweet carved top too. perhaps chamber the body to get a nice reduced wight also:)
